GEEK IN RESIDENCE

Developing digital capacity and rebooting arts organisations… the Australia Council called for geeks and Project Synthesis Director answered the call.

For over two years, Director and Producer, Daniel Donahoo, took the position of geek in residence for two Victorian arts organisations as part of an initiative by the Australia Council of the Arts. The program worked to match technology-focused individuals and companies with emerging arts-based organisations to help them develop their digital skills and abilities.

As the geek in residence, Daniel engaged staff in digital and tech-centric conversation and emergent practice support in the pursuit of practical and creative ways to help improve and strengthen the way they used technology. As a result of these residencies, both the Emerging Writers’ Festival and Kids’ Own Publishing developed new digital offerings that expanded on their respective vision and mission.

This project was supported by the Australia Council of the Arts and in collaboration with Emerging Writers’ Festival and Kids’ Own Publishing.
